Townsley, VanDehei win Fall 2017 Tullis Moot Court Competition
November 10, 2017LSU Law students Kyle Townsley and J. William VanDehei won the Fall 2017 Robert Lee Tullis Moot Court Competition on Nov. 1 at LSU Law. Townsley and VanDehi successfully argued their case in the final round judged by Senior Judge James Brady, United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana; Elizabeth Murrill, Solicitor General for the Louisiana Department of Justice; and Corey Amundson, acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana. Townsley and VanDehi, along with finalists Christopher Alderman and Danielle Kinchen, argued whether the domestic relations exception to federal jurisdiction apply in federal question cases…

LSU Law Ranked No. 23 Best Value Law School by National Jurist Magazine
November 6, 2017The LSU Law Center has been ranked the No. 23 Best Value Law School in the nation by National Jurist Magazine, a legal education publication. LSU Law is the only Louisiana law school, public or private, included in the Best Value rankings. The Best Value Law School rankings is designed to find the law schools where graduates have excellent chances of passing the bar and getting a legal job without taking on a ton of debt, according to the publication. LSU Law Building closed for weekend, will re-open Monday for classes
November 3, 2017Power has been restored to the new building of the Law Center, and most of the old building. However, the Law Center will remain closed for the remainder of the weekend while officials address smoke and air quality issues in parts of the old building. Administration asks that students and staff not come to the Law Center this weekend unless you have an emergency. If you do have an emergency, please contact Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Andi Carroll. The Law Center will re-open for classes on Monday morning. Alderman/Kinchen and Townsley/VanDehei to compete in Final Round of 2017 Tullis Competition
November 1, 2017The 2017 Tullis Moot Court Competition finalists will face off in this year's championship round on Nov. 1. Second-year law students Christopher Alderman & Danielle Maddox Kinchen will face classmates Kyle Townsley & J. William VanDehei in the hypothetical case of Bohemia v. Magnussen. The Final Round begins at 6 pm in the LSU Law Center's Robinson Courtroom, and it is open to the public. The round will also be live-streamed here starting at 6 p.m. Nov. 1. Good luck to both teams!

LSU Black Law Student Association hosts Women on Working in the Legal Field
November 1, 2017On Oct. 24, the LSU Black Law Student Association hosted Women on Working in the Legal Field at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center. The event featured a mixer and discussion panel of 11 female attorneys from throughout Louisiana and discussed what it is like to be a woman in the legal field. There was also a "speed dating" segment where audience members were able to talk one-on-one with the panelists.
