On Oct. 24, the LSU Black Law Student Association hosted Women on Working in the Legal Field at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
The event featured a mixer and discussion panel of 11 female attorneys from throughout Louisiana and discussed what it is like to be a woman in the legal field. There was also a “speed dating” segment where audience members were able to talk one-on-one with the panelists.
The panelists were:
- Natalie Blackman, solo practitioner focusing in the areas of Criminal Defense, Employment Discrimination, and Personal Injury
- Elizabeth R. Carter, LSU Law professor
- Ethel Clay, solo practitioner specializing in personal Injury, family, criminal, and successions.
- Cristie Gibbens, Assistant Federal Public Defender in the Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana
- Karen A. Haith, Executive Management Officer with Louisiana Workforce Commission in Baton Rouge.
- Katherine “Katie” Cicardo Mannino, associate in the Baton Rouge office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC
- Suchitra J. Satpathi, Senior Advisor for State and International Affairs for the City of New Orleans
- Anna Scardulla, LSU Law Center’s Advocacy Fellow
- Margaret Thomas, LSU Law professor
- Anjelica Torrance, Assistant District Attorney for the East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office in the Domestic Violence Unit
- April Williams, an Assistant District Attorney with East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office
