G. Alan Teague (’97) selected to serve as Magistrate Judge in the Virgin Islands

LSU Law alumnus G. Alan Teague (’97) began serving as the Magistrate Judge in the Division of St. Thomas/St. John of the District Court of the Virgin Islands on Aug. 26. He was appointed by Chief Judge Robert A. Molloy to replace Judge Ruth Miller, who retired from the bench on July 29 after 14 years of service. Judge Teague was introduced to the U.S. Virgin Islands after a stint working on cruise ships. Law Center welcomes seven new staff members as fall semester begins

LSU Law welcomed seven new staff members to the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center prior to the start of the fall semester. Jenifer Godfrey, who formerly served as Associate Director of Admissions from 2011 to 2013, has returned to the Law Center as Director of Student Records and Associate Registrar. In her new role, Godfrey will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and certifying student records, as well as oversight of all functions and procedures regarding academic policies and records. Lafayette attorney Robert Kallam (’90) appointed Chair of LSU Law Alumni Board of Trustees

Robert Kallam, a 1990 graduate of the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center and partner at Kean Miller LLP in Lafayette, has been appointed chair of the LSU Law Alumni Board of Trustees for the 2024-26 term by LSU Law Dean Alena M. 18 LSU Law students selected for Wex Malone Inn of Court membership following success at 2024 Vinson & Elkins Trial Advocacy Program

Following their impressive performances at the 2024 Vinson & Elkins Trial Advocacy Program, 18 third-year LSU Law students have been nominated by the Trial Advocacy Program Faculty to join the LSU Law chapter of the Wex Malone Inns of Court, which was established 35 years ago and is one of roughly 175 chapters of the American Inns of Court in the United States. LSU Law faculty, alumni instrumental in helping 3L Tara Roussel secure two federal clerkships

After graduating next spring, third-year LSU Law student Tara Roussel will begin a yearlong clerkship with Judge Darrel Papillion (’94) of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana next August, and then clerk for Judge Kurt Engelhardt (’85) of the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals the following year. For most third-year LSU Law students, commencement marks a much-anticipated final step of their formal legal education. LSU Law Library receives new titles for U.S. Government Publishing Office Preservation Steward collection

The LSU Law Library has received three new titles from the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) to add to their Preservation Steward collection. To help libraries meet the needs of efficient government document stewardship in the digital era, GPO has established Preservation Stewards like the LSU Law Library to support continued public access to historic, print-format U.S. government documents. The additional materials at the LSU Law Library include the historic and current volumes of the U.S. Statutes at Large, U.S. Reports, and U.S. Code.
