Facilities & Resources
The Law Center facilities include two interconnected buildings, centrally located on the LSU campus. Both have been recently renovated at a total cost of more than $16 million.
The Old Law Building houses the offices of the Louisiana Law Institute, the Center of Civil Law Studies, the Louisiana Judicial College, and the Center of Continuing Professional Development. It also includes offices for student activities. There is the McKernan Auditorium for use by guest lecturers and visiting experts, the Tucker Collection of civil law materials, and several floors of library stack areas.
The Law Center Building provides classroom areas, seminar rooms, discussion rooms, and meeting areas; library offices and facilities including open stack areas on all four floors and carrels for student research; a practice court room; and administrative and faculty offices.
A Student Lounge offers space for study and socializing and features a CC’s Coffee shop.
The Law Library contains one of the largest collections of legal materials in the Southeast, as well as facilities for computer-assisted legal research. It houses over 625,000 volume-equivalents, with more than 416,000 bound volumes, over a million items in microformat, nearly 125,000 court records, and 2,800 current serial subscriptions.
