144 LSU Law students earn academic honors in the Spring 2023 semester
May 31, 2023Fifty-seven LSU Law students have been named Paul M. Hebert Scholars for their academic achievement in the Spring 2023 semester and 87 students have been named Dean’s Scholars. The Paul M. Hebert Scholar is awarded to the top 10% of LSU Law students earning 12 or more semester hours of credit in courses taken during an individual semester, and the Dean’s Scholar is awarded to the top 25% of students who earn at least 12 hours of credit during an individual semester. Arboleda (’23) closes out LSU Law career with big court win for client as part of Juvenile Defense Clinic
May 29, 2023A few weeks before wrapping up his time at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center and celebrating graduation with his classmates, John Arboleda got one last chance to use the advocacy skills he’s honed at LSU Law over the past three years to successfully defend a client in the courtroom as part of his work in the Juvenile Defense Clinic. Arboleda’s client was facing charges of illegal possession of a firearm and controlled substance, which resulted from a search of their person. May 24, 2023LSU Law Class of 2023 graduate Emily Vest received the 2023 Clinical Legal Education Association Outstanding Clinical Student Award for her dedicated work in two LSU Law clinics. “I was shocked when I found out I won,” said Vest, who participated in the Juvenile Defense Clinic last fall and the Parole & Reentry Clinic in the 2021 fall semester. “I feel so grateful to be recognized. May 23, 2023Galligan urged the graduates to never allow themselves to be entirely satisfied with current conditions, and to always look for opportunities to further improve the legal profession and their communities. “If I can borrow from the Marvel Universe, you will be a guardian of the galaxy of justice. Galligan Jr. will deliver the commencement address at the LSU Law Class of 2023 Commencement, which will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on the LSU campus. Galligan’s teaching and scholarship focuses on torts, admiralty, and constitutional law.
