55 LSU Law students selected for Board of Advocates honor organization

Fifty-five Class of 2021 LSU Law students have been selected to be members of the Board of Advocates, a student honor organization dedicated to the promotion and development of oral and written persuasive advocacy skills. Rising third-year law students are selected to membership on the Board of Advocates based on a holistic application that looks at a student’s success in LSU Law's many different internal and external advocacy opportunities. LSU Law faculty, staff working remotely; online classes to resume on March 23

LSU Law faculty and staff members began working remotely on Tuesday, March 17 due to concerns about the COVID-19 virus, and classes will resume for students online beginning Monday, March 23. The LSU Law Library and IT office are both closed, however, staff members continue to provide basic services and assistance to students, faculty and staff remotely. 'Louisiana Law Review,’ ‘Journal of Energy Law and Resources’ announce publication selections

LSU Law’s student-edited legal journals—Louisiana Law Review and the Journal of Energy Law and Resources—have announced the articles they will publish in upcoming volumes. The Louisiana Law Review Volume 80 Board of Editors says the decision process for the Junior Associates selected for publication in Volume 81 was extremely difficult because of the number of well-written student pieces. Likewise, The Journal of Energy Law and Resources Volume VIII Editorial Board says the limited number of spots for publication in Volume IX, along with the high volume of excellent papers from Junior Associates, made the publication decision process very challenging. LSU Law classes canceled for week of March 16, will resume online March 23

March 13, 2020

LSU Law will suspend classes during the week of March 16, in alignment with LSU’s decision to cancel all classes on campus during the week. LSU Law classes will resume online on Monday, March 23, and will remain online through the rest of the spring semester. Unlike the main campus, LSU Law does not have spring break scheduled for week of March 23. The rest of the LSU campus will resume classes online on Monday, March 30. LSU Law celebrates 2020 Distinguished Alumni of the Year and Distinguished Achievement honorees

Mulvihill, Powell, Shkodra and Mader take first place at 2020 LSU Law Transactional Competition

The 2020 LSU Law Transactional Competition wrapped up on March 3, with students Nathan Mulvihill, Allison Powell, Lindrit Shkodra and Blane Mader taking first place. The internal competition aims to develop students’ skills in contract drafting and negotiation. This year, teams drafted and negotiated a $2.5 billion capital stock acquisition agreement. Mulvihill and Powell were named the best team on the buyer's side of the negotiations and they also won Best Overall Contract.
