Two of a kind: LSU Law alumni hold unique claim to fame as the only two sets of twins in U.S. to serve on same district court
December 17, 2020LSU Law proudly counts among its alumni scores of successful attorneys, elected officials, business leaders, and distinguished members of the judiciary — including federal district judges, state judges, Louisiana district attorneys, and six of the seven current judges on the Louisiana Supreme Court. Professor Wendell Holmes retires after 34 years at LSU Law
December 17, 2020After 34 years at LSU Law, Curry Family Professor of Law and Erick Vincent Anderson Professor of Law Wendell Holmes is retiring at the end of this year. “I’ll definitely miss the interaction with my students,” Holmes said in early December while on a short break from grading final exams for the last time. “At the end of the day, that’s why most of us go into teaching in the first place.” After earning his law degree in 1977 from Tulane University — where he was managing editor of Tulane Law Review and an Order of the Coif member —…

2021 MPRE registration opens on Dec. 14
December 11, 2020LSU Law students can begin registering to take the 2021 Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination beginning on Monday, Dec. 14. Students wishing to take the exam on March 29 or 30 are encouraged to register before Jan. 4, with Jan. 28 being the final deadline to apply. The MPRE will also be administered in August and November, with registration deadlines landing on June 10 and Sept. 17. Testing center locations and capacity will determine whether one or both testing days are available, so students are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Two more LSU Law alumni elected to Louisiana Supreme Court
December 4, 2020With the recent election of LSU Law graduates Piper Griffin (’87) and Jay McCallum (’85) to the Louisiana Supreme Court, LSU Law alumni will fill six of the seven seats on the state’s highest court. The new justices are replacing fellow LSU Law alumni on the bench. Griffin will fill the Seventh District seat being vacated by Chief Justice Bernette Joshua Johnson (’69), while McCallum will fill the Fourth District seat vacated by Harmon Drew (’71).
