LSU Law Center Diversity Task Force Submits Report
September 25, 2015The LSU Law Center’s Diversity Task Force has submitted its recommendations to interim co-deans William Corbett and Cheney Joseph, Jr. The task force was appointed in October 2014 by Jack Weiss, former Chancellor and Dean of the LSU Law Center, to make recommendations for how the Law Center could create and cultivate a better understanding of diverse cultures and help minority students succeed.

November 5 LSU Law Liskow & Lewis Lecture to Focus on Offshore Safety After Macondo
September 24, 2015Professor Jacqueline L . Weaver will deliver the annual Liskow & Lewis Visiting Professorship in Energy Law Lecture on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the LSU Law Center. The lecture, Offshore Safety after Macondo: Lowering Risks in the Gulf of Mexico and Globally, will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the David W. Robinson Courtroom. The Liskow & Lewis Visiting Professorship in Energy Law was established through a generous gift from the Liskow & Lewis law firm. The Professorship provides funds to bring distinguished scholars in energy law and closely related fields to the Law Center on an annual basis as part of the LSU John P. Laborde Energy Law Center.

HeinOnline’s Women and the Law
September 16, 2015The law library is invites patrons to explore the many databases in our collection, including Women and the Law (Peggy), now available through HeinOnline. This unique collection of materials brings together books, biographies and periodicals dedicated to women's roles in society and the law, and provides a platform to research the progression of women's roles and rights in society over the past 200 years. Also included are more than 70 titles from Emory University Law School's Feminism and Legal Theory Project which provide a platform to view the effect of law and culture on the female gender. Honorable James L. Dennis to Receive Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws at Awards Luncheon
September 11, 2015The LSU Law Center will award the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws to the Honorable James L. Dennis, Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, during ceremonies planned for Sunday, October 11. The honorary degree, the highest academic honor of an educational institution, is presented in recognition of Judge Dennis’ substantial contributions to the development of the law, to the judiciary and to our State, region and nation. Richard and Smith Win Fall 2015 Opening Statement Competition
September 1, 2015Congratulations to Alaina Richard and Harrison Smith, winners of the fall 2015 Opening Statement Competition. The Opening Statement Competition is an intra-school competition exclusively for second-year students. It is designed as an introduction to trial advocacy skills for second-year students interested in participating in LSU’s Flory Trial Competitions and various external traveling competition teams.
