ABA Arbitration Competition regional event bringing law students from six states to LSU Law

LSU Law CenterRoughly 40 law students from schools in six states outside Louisiana will converge at the LSU Law Center this week for a regional round of the American Bar Association Arbitration Competition.

Twelve teams—including one from LSU Law—will compete in 10 rooms at the LSU Law Center between Thursday and Saturday evening. The top two teams will advance to the national finals in Chicago on Jan 14-15, 2020.

LSU Law is one of just four law schools across the country who were asked to host a regional round of the competition this year. The last time LSU Law hosted the event was in 2014. Teams of students from law schools in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania will be presenting their cases to panels of judges, which will include LSU Law alumni.

LSU Law asks all students, faculty and staff to make the visiting students feel at home, and not to disturb any competitions in progress. Signs will be posted on the doors of the rooms when they’re in use.

The rooms that will host competitions are: Student Lounge, Robinson Courtroom, and rooms 107, 303, 304, S307 (Tyson Room), W301 (Faculty Parlor), W303 (Tucker Room), W323 and W236B. These spaces will be specially cleaned and configured for the competition, so please do not rearrange the furniture should you find a room to be momentarily unoccupied.

LSU Law also thanks its alumni who are volunteering to serve as judges this weekend.
