Patrick A. Juneau, Jr. of Lafayette has been named the LSU Law Center 2006 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. Chancellor John J. Costonis announced the selection of Juneau at the spring 2006 meeting of the LSU Law Center Board of Trustees. Juneau will be honored at the Distinguished Alumnus Banquet to be held the evening of Wednesday, November 1, 2006. The banquet will be held at the City Club at River Ranch in Juneau’s hometown of Lafayette, LA.
Pat Juneau obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1965. He is in private practice at the Juneau Law Firm in Lafayette. Juneau is the past president of the Louisiana Association of Defense counsel and was elected to and served as a member of the Louisiana Constitutional Convention in 1973. He has been a frequent guest lecturer at the LSU Law Center and Tulane Law School. In 1996, Juneau was awarded the Curtis R. Boisfontaine Trial Advocacy Award by the Louisiana Bar Foundation.
Following his graduation from law school, Juneau served as President of the LSU Law Alumni Association in 1982. He is also one of the founding members of the Law Center Chancellor’s Council. In 1987 he was inducted into the LSU Law Center Hall of Fame. He currently serves as a member of the Law Center Board of Trustees.
While in law school, Juneau served as president of his senior class. He was also a winner of the Robert Tullis Moot Court Competition. In the moot court competition, he received awards for the Best Oralist and the Best Appellate Brief.
The Law Center’s Distinguished Alumnus Award is given to individuals who exemplify the highest quality and ethical standards of the Law Center. The award recognizes personal and professional achievements and loyalty to their alma mater. Nominations are submitted by members of the Law Center Board of Trustees and the chancellor of the Law Center. A final selection is determined by an advisory committee.
Formal invitations to this year’s Distinguished Alumnus Banquet will be sent to all alumni in the fall.
