The LSU Law Center’s American Bar Association Arbitration Competition team took third place at the national championships of the Arbitration competition. Deanna Candler, Anna Grand, Justin Hall and Leigh Hall traveled to Chicago for the national championship that was held January 24 and 25 at the ABA’s headquarters. The students were one of 56 teams from 37 law schools that competed in this year’s Arbitration competition. LSU Law alumnus James Carver (’89) coaches the team.
The ABA Law Student Division Arbitration Competition promotes greater knowledge of alternative dispute resolution by simulating a realistic arbitration hearing. Participants prepare and present an arbitration case to a panel of experienced attorney-arbitrators, and are responsible for presenting opening statements, witness examinations, exhibit introductions, evidentiary presentations, and summations. This year’s case file involved a commercial real estate transaction dispute.
