Justin Mannino (’13) was recently elected as a Fellow to The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel
Justin Mannino, a 2013 graduate of the LSU Law Center and partner at Taylor Porter, was recently elected as a fellow to The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), an organization of trust and estate lawyers and law professors in the United States and around the world. Fellows of ACTEC are considered leading members of the Trust and Estate profession who have made a substantial contribution to the Trust and Estate field.
Mannino is one of only 30 ACTEC Fellows currently practicing in Louisiana, more than 10 of whom are LSU Law alumni. ACTEC consists of over 2,000 Fellows and is considered the premiere trust and estate planning fellowship in the United States, comprising leading lawyers in all 50 states and 16 countries.
“After graduating from LSU Law and beginning my legal practice working in trusts and estates, earning admission to ACTEC has been one of my career goals,” said Mannino. “I am deeply humbled and honored to be selected among my peers for admission to ACTEC. I appreciate the trust and confidence my peers have placed in me and am excited to contribute to the continued growth and advancement of the profession with this distinguished group of trust and estate attorneys.”
To be elected as a Fellow, nominees must demonstrate substantial contributions to trust and estate law through continued education, engagement with the bar or legislature, or outreach to historically underrepresented communities in estate planning. Candidates must also have at least 10 years of experience practicing trust and estate law or serving as fiduciary counsel for a fiduciary service company, among other criteria.
Mannino was nominated to be a Fellow by LSU Law Professor Elizabeth Carter, who was recently appointed Chair of the New Fellows Steering Committee. He is the first person Carter has nominated to become a Fellow.
“I am so excited to have nominated Justin for election as an ACTEC Fellow,” said Carter, who became an Academic Fellow by ACTEC in 2018. “Justin was in one of the first classes I taught at LSU Law, and I have really enjoyed watching him grow as a professional. His election to the College serves as a great example to our students on the opportunities that are available in the field of estate planning and administration.”
LSU Law offers several trust and estate law courses, along with a Graduate Certificate in Estate Planning and Taxation, which prepares students for careers in estate planning and taxation or for advanced degrees in taxation or related fields.
