Inspiring The Next Generation of Trial Lawyers
Kurt Arnold and Jason Itkin created the Arnold & Itkin Trial Lawyers Advocacy Scholarship at LSU Law because they wanted law students passionate about helping others and trying cases to know that there are options on the career path. They are seeking to inspire and support law students who want to help people through work on life-changing cases.
The recipient of the Arnold & Itkin award must be a rising 2L or 3L in the top 25 percent of the class. The student must demonstrate, to the Scholarship Committee’s satisfaction, an interest in trial work through participation in a competition team, applicable coursework, field placement, clerkship or other activity.
Kurt Arnold and Jason Itkin both graduated from the University of Texas School of Law with honors and went to work for a renowned law firm in Houston that engaged in defense work. While the opportunity to advocate effectively for a client is everyone’s goal, Kurt and Jason realized that to make a difference in the lives of individual people, they’d have to make a change.
In 2004 Kurt and Jason founded Arnold & Itkin LLP to help people rebuild their lives following catastrophic injuries or the loss of a loved one. As young attorneys, they developed a reputation for working around the clock. Just two years after opening their doors they won a $41 million jury verdict. At that time, it was the largest commercial litigation verdict in Hawaii. Arnold & Itkin has represented injured clients in some of the most high-profile disasters in U.S. history including the Astroworld tragedy and Deepwater Horizon.
