This endowment was established to support a scholarship in honor of Adam Tabary Dows. Adam passed away peacefully three days before starting his third year of law school in fall 2018. He was an avid outdoorsman, gardener and LSU fan. He loved spending time outdoors while fishing with family and friends, or taking in the breathtaking beauty of an early morning hunt. He passionately cared for his flock of pet chickens, cultivated heirloom tomatoes from seed and experimented with other Louisiana natives in his garden. He enjoyed ardently watching and attending LSU Football and baseball games with his family and friends. Through this Scholarship, his family and friends wish to enable other Law Center students to realize their dreams of becoming a lawyer, while also honoring Adam’s memory.
Criteria:
The recipients must be full-time students enrolled in the LSU Law Center. Financial need may be a consideration in selecting the recipients. Recipients will be selected in accordance with LSU policies and approved by the Law Center Dean or the Dean’s designee. The amount and number of awards will be determined by the Dean or the Dean’s designee, based on available spendable funds and the needs of the Law Center. However, the initial award of $1,000 shall be made to a third-year Law Center student in Spring 2019. Recipients may retain the Scholarship for an additional year(s), provided funds are available and the recipient continues to meet the above eligibility requirements; remains a full-time student (other than the graduating semester); remains in good standing; and makes satisfactory academic progress in the Law Center. To retain the scholarship, the student may not be on disciplinary probation.
