LSU Law Student
Background: I received my bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University, majoring in biological sciences with a minor in Middle Eastern studies. While at NC State, I was the president of the Young Scientists Society and through the organization we tutored middle school and high school students in various science subjects and judged science fairs at local public schools. I speak two other languages making me a trilingual speaker. I am fluent in English, Arabic, and Persian. Having an international background has made me a versatile and diverse person.
Why Law School: The law, particularly international law, has always fascinated me because it is a way to connect people across the globe to one another, particularly in the corporate and business world.
Why LSU Law: LSU Law Center is a great place to get one’s legal education because it teaches both systems of law (Common Law and Civil Law). The majority of countries in the world practice law based on a code and considering how much the Internet has made international transactions rapid and within reach, as a future lawyer, knowledge of the civil code is crucial in so many ways.
My Biggest Surprise about LSU Law: The faculty and staff at LSU are highly qualified in the courses they teach. Moreover, they have an open-door policy and readily available for students to ask questions and help them understand the legal subject matters.
LSU Law Center Faculty: Professor Baier’s Constitutional Law classes were quite informative and entertaining. His teaching style is impeccable. Professor Holmes is one of my favorite professors as well. He can answer any question regarding commercial transactions and the Uniform Commercial Code.
Honors/Interests While in Law School: Along with a number of other law students, in 2007, we founded the International Law Society. Chancellor Weiss was very supportive of this initiative and he held meetings with us to help structure the organization and invite guest speakers. I also participated in various trial tryouts and the Tullis competition.
Extracurricular Activities: Playing soccer, taking photos as a professional photographer, and watching legal thriller movies are some of the things I like to do for fun, in my spare time.
Just for Fun: LSU football games are super fun especially when we are in the student section of Tiger Stadium. The law school tailgating events make going to the football games exceptionally fun.
