Today, the LSU family celebrates the 2020 Day of Caring and Giving, and we invite each of you to hear and share our messages of hope, resilience and inspiration. Please follow us throughout the day on Facebook and Twitter, and share our stories on social media.
In good times and bad, our communities need the good work and wise counsel of well-prepared lawyers.
Our alumni, students, faculty and staff remain optimistic about the future. We are heartened by the dreams and spirit of our students, who in spite of this crisis, remain steadfast in their commitment to becoming the next generation of great LSU Law lawyers.
Mark (’83) and Mary (LSU ’82) Schroeder’s non-endowed scholarship has helped student Alyssa Craton to achieve her dreams.
As an active Houston energy lawyer, Mark has helped to mentor students as well as support them during their Law Center experience. The Schroeders celebrate Day of Caring and Giving by funding their second annual scholarship, effectively doubling their impact on students in 2020-21.
“I have been practicing law for nearly 40 years, and whatever success I have enjoyed, has to be attributed to the training and education I received at the LSU Law School,” says Mark. “I graduated at a time when it was possible to finance your own education, largely free from debt. Giving for scholarships is a way for my wife and me to show our appreciation, to be able to help the Law Center recruit the best incoming classes, and for those students to enjoy the same great education, while also graduating with as little debt as possible.”
If current circumstances allow you to support our scholarship program, like Mark and Mary have done, please go to our Day of Giving and Caring page and make a gift to support LSU Law students.
And please take a moment to watch a video of our students, who would like to share some words of encouragement and thanks. We know that you will be inspired!
We will get through this. Please continue to be a champion for LSU Law!
