LSU Law Dean Tom Galligan joined Louisiana Gov John Bel Edwards and other dignitaries on Feb. 11 for a luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion to celebrate the life and career of Judge James “Jim” Brady, who passed away in 2017. Brady, United States District Judge for the Middle District of Louisiana, was confirmed as a federal judge in 2000 after being nominated for the position by President Bill Clinton. He was named a 2014 Distinguished Achievement Honoree for the Law Center,  and he was a former advisory council member of the George and Jean Pugh Institute for Justice. He was a member of the LSU Law Alumni Board of Trustees and a former member of the Chancellor’s Council.  Brady was also a long-time supporter and volunteer for the LSU Law trial advocacy program.

As a student at LSU Law, Brady was president of the Student Bar Association.
