Privacy in the Workplace

“Privacy in the Workplace” will be the topic of the annual Louisiana Law Review academic symposium to be held February 9-10, 2006 at the Lod Cook Conference Center on the LSU Campus. The symposium will feature nine prominent scholars in the field of employment law from throughout the nation. Panelists will discuss current legal issues surrounding employee privacy.

Participants include Professor Anita Bernstein, Sam Nunn Professor of Law at Emory University School of Law and the Wallace Steven Professor of Law at New York Law School; Professor Charlie Craver, Freda H. Alverson Professor of Law at George Washington University; Professor Matthew Finkin, Albert J. Harno Professor of Law at the University of Illinois College of Law; Professor Catherine Fisk, Professor of Law at Duke University; Professor Rafael Gely, Professor of Law at the University of Cincinnati College of Law; Professor Pauline T. Kim, Professor of Law at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis; Professor Mike Selmi, Professor of Law at George Washington University Law School; and Dean Steven Willborn, Dean and Shmoker Professor of Law at the University of Nebraska College of Law.

Panelists will discuss such topics as, “Life Away From Work,” “Workplace Blogs and Workers’ Privacy,” and “Privacy for the Working Class.”

The symposium will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, February 9. Presentations will resume Friday, February 10 at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 11:45 a.m. The public is invited to attend. The conference has also been certified for 7.75 hours of Continuing Legal Education credit.
