Tracy Hester
Professor Tracy Hester will present a lecture titled “The Law and Policy of Climate Engineering” at the LSU Law Center at 5:00 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Robinson Courtroom. Prof. Hester will introduce lawyers to the technologies currently being developed that might counteract risks of climate change, such as direct carbon capture from the atmosphere and the dispersal of particles in the upper atmosphere, then examine the legal and public policy issues that would be raised by the deployment of those technologies.
Prof. Hester is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Law who practiced law at major firms in Washington, D.C. and Texas. Since 2010, he has been a professor at the University of Houston Law School.
A reception will follow in the student lounge.
In addition to the lecture, the Laborde Energy Law Center will host a CLE titled “Frac Hits and Well Technology: An Overview of Legal Issues” on Thursday, Sept. 6 in the Robinson Courtroom and Friday, Sept. 7 in Room 108. Four hours of CLE credit are available.
