What are your immediate career plans?
I will be joining Holland & Knight as a corporate associate in their Houston office!
What are your long-term career aspirations?
I would love to eventually be a law professor!
Please tell us about the organizations and activities you participated in at LSU Law, including any awards or honors you received.
During law school, I was an associate for law review as a 2L and 3L. I was a tutor for Professor (John) Church’s Torts class and Professor (Lisa) Avalos’s ACJ class. I was also a research assistant for Professor Church.
Please tell us about any LSU Law faculty, classes, or other experiences that were particularly impactful on your legal education.
I was lucky to have many amazing professors during law school who, every day, continued to not only challenge me but inspire me to be a better student. Professor Church provided me with the quintessential law professor experience and taught me how to survive an embarrassing cold call. He also inspired me to one day become a law professor!
Professor (Heidi) Thompson taught me the importance of CREAC and how to write. I would not have done so well in school if she had not taught me the importance of legal analysis. More importantly, she taught me to remain positive even when the pressure seems unbearable!
Professor (Joseph) Bockrath taught me that hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard! I am very appreciative that when I needed help with the Commerce Clause his door was always open!
And lastly, Professor (John) Trahan who taught me quite a lot about Louisiana culture. Professor Trahan had the most fun lectures, and his animated teaching style made even the toughest classes enjoyable to learn.
What are your fondest memories from your time at LSU Law?
Tutoring 1Ls was one of my fondest memories at LSU Law. I remember being so scared as a 1L, and it was nice to reassure the newest law students that they would be alright. It was incredibly rewarding to see the students I tutored succeed in their classes. One of the highlights was watching Madelyn Graves transform from a nervous 1L into an amazing tutor herself!
What advice would you give to students entering law school who aspire to become Order of the Coif members when they graduate?
Don’t let the fear of being wrong stop you from seeking help! Remember, every expert was once a beginner who asked questions. When you overcome that fear, you open the door to a world of knowledge and growth. Embrace the journey of learning, and let curiosity guide you forward.
