Throughout her distinguished career, the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg amassed an impressive collection of modern art and memorabilia, which included everything from engravings and ceramics by Pablo Picasso to bronze sculptures by Glenna Goodacre.
Her collection also included a Tiger figurine that was gifted to her from LSU Law in 1996, when she held the Judge Alvin B. Rubin Visiting Professorship of Law. The Tiger figurine is among a portion of Ginsburg’s estate that is now up for auction, with the proceeds to benefit the Washington National Opera.
“In the shape of a reclining tiger, with brass plaque, all on black base, underside with label for ‘Earth Home’ and ‘Made in America’, based off of original sculpture,” reads the auction listing by The Potomack Company, which is hosting the auction of artwork and personal items from Ginsburg’s Watergate home and chambers.
The plaque on the Tiger figurine reads “1996 Rubin visiting Professor, LSU Law Center” and it’s estimated to be worth $150 to $200, according to the listing. As of Wednesday, April 20, the highest bid was $600, with the auction set to close on Thursday, April 28, at 10 a.m. (EST)

She was incredibly gracious with her time during her visit to LSU Law, during which she met with many faculty members and students, and participated in the annual Hats ‘n Canes celebration.
