The launch of a yearlong “Geaux Beyond 3%” Dean’s Council membership drive on Giving Day, March 23, was a great success, with 20 new members joining the council, 13 members upgrading their membership status, eight members renewing membership, and four donors supporting the council with gifts below the membership level.
“Giving Day was a huge success, and we are so pleased that so many alumni showed their support for the Dean’s Council and LSU Law,” said Dean’s Council Chair Allison Jones, who is spearheading the membership drive. “But every day should be giving day, and if you missed out, you still have time to show your support. You can join the Law Dean’s Council with an online gift all at one time, or stretched over the course of a year. We still take checks, too!
“Where would you be now without LSU Law? Think about that question, and then show your support and help LSU Law’s educational mission continue to thrive.”
The “Geaux Beyond 3%” initiative was launched because just 3% of living LSU Law alumni were members heading into Giving Day. The launch of the initiative was aided by nine members who accepted a challenge to recruit new members. They included Tim Barfield (’89), Danny Cavell (’80), Frank Neuner (’76), Ed Walters (’75), Mike Patterson (’71), Jim Lambert (’76), Ragan Richard (’93), Jan Hayden (’79), and LSU President Emeritus and LSU Law Professor Tom Galligan.
Giving Day donors also gifted LSU Law with thousands of dollars in support of Experiential Learning Programs, the General Scholarship Fund, and other initiatives.
Unrestricted gifts to the Dean’s Council help underwrite more than $7 million in tuition waivers each year. Along with the personal satisfaction we know you’ll get from helping our students, your Dean’s Council membership will also provide you with special offers, event invitations, and recognition throughout the year.
