Law Library announces hire of two librarians

The LSU Law Library recently announced the hires of two new librarians.

Aimee Pittman has been hired as the Library’s new Reference Librarian. Pittman has a Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama and a Master’s in Library and Information Science from LSU, which she completed in May.

Pittman has already worked in the LSU Law Library as an intern, and she has significant experience practicing law and as the director of a public library. She will start at the LSU Law Library on Nov. 1.

Seth Brostoff has been hired as the Library’s new Foreign, Comparative, and International Law Librarian. Brostoff earned his a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia and a Master’s of Science in Library Science from The Catholic University of America.

He has worked at the University of Florida as a Reference Librarian since July 2017, and he will start at LSU on Feb. 1, 2019

Law Library staff Melissa Strickland, Melanie Sims, Travis Williams, and Kayla Reed, headed the search committee for the new librarians.

Finally, Strickland has accepted the role as the library’s Interim Associate Director of Public Services. Her appointment begins immediately, and she will coordinate our reference, instruction, and faculty services in the Law Library.

Strickland has been at LSU since March 2017 as the Reference Librarian. She previously worked as the Reference and Instructional Services Librarian at Charleston School of Law.
