LSU Law awards 183 degrees at 2017 Commencement

The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center awarded degrees to 183 students during Commencement ceremonies held June 2 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The ceremony marked the first Commencement for Tom Galligan as dean of the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. Galligan began his tenure as the 11th dean of the Law Center on July 1, 2016.

Former FBI Director Louis Freeh delivers Commencement address

Louis Freeh, former U.S. District Judge and director of the FBI, delivered the main address at the LSU Law Center's 2017 Commencement ceremony on June 2. Freeh was appointed as the fifth director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1993. "You will have opportunity to work and contribute in the most important areas to help, not just this country, but this world deal with its challenges," Freeh said.

18 students elected to the Order of the Coif

Eighteen students were elected to membership in The Order of the Coif, a national honorary law fraternity that elects to membership students from the highest 10 percent of the third-year class. Inductees were honored in a separate ceremony at the Law Center prior to Commencement.

Class of 1967 celebrates as LSU Law Golden Grads

Members of the LSU Law Class of 1967 were celebrated during and after the 2017 Commencement. Every year, the Law Center welcomes back its 50-year alumni for the Golden Grads celebration.

LSU Law dedicates classroom in memory of Cheney Joseph

The LSU Law Center officially renamed Classroom W-210 the "Cheney C. Joseph Classroom" on May 25 in memory of the school's late professor and former interim dean. Joseph died Dec. 18, 2015. He was one of the most influential lawyers and legal minds in the history of the Louisiana law profession.
