Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards to Deliver LSU Law Commencement Address

Gov. John Bel Edwards, the 56th governor of Louisiana and a 1999 graduate of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, will deliver the 2016 LSU Law Commencement address scheduled for Friday, May 27, at the Baton Rouge River Center. While earning his Juris Doctorate at LSU, Edwards graduated as a member of the Order of the Coif, and following his graduation, he set up a civil law practice in his home town of Amite.

LSU Law to Host US Army War College on April 20

The LSU Law Center and the U.S. Army War College Eisenhower Series College Program will host a free panel discussion on current national security and military issues as well as government policies at 2 p.m. April 20, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the McKernan Auditorium. This year's topics include climate change, autonomous weapon systems and cyber security.

LSU Law Moves Up 12 Spots in Latest US News and World Report Rankings

The LSU Law Center moved up 12 spots to No. 82 in the latest law school rankings released by U.S. News and World Report. The Law Center remained in the top 100 law schools in the nation in the closely watched rankings, moving up from No. 94 in the previous year.

LSU Law Center Hosts Law Firm Information Day

Representatives from law firms all across the South as well as a few military branches were in attendance as the LSU Law Center hosted its first Law Firm Information Day on April 4 in the Student Lounge. Sponsored by the LSU Law Center Career Services, the event allowed students the opportunity meet with law firms and network with possible employers in a more casual and relaxed setting than typical on-campus interviews.

Tailgate with LSU Law Before Spring Football Game

Law Center to Dedicate Room to Bruce MacMurdo ('78)

On April 22, classroom W220 will be dedicated to the memory of Bruce Macmurdo ('78) at a ceremony that is open to all alumni and friends. After Bruce's untimely and unexpected passing in 2007, his friends Vic Marcello, Jack Young, Bill Steffes and Ed Walters spearheaded a campaign to raise the necessary funds. Bruce's son, Mark – currently a 3L who will graduate in May – will participate in the dedication.

Reunion Weekend

Save the Date! The 2016 Reunion Weekend for the classes of 1976, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2005 and 2011 is tentatively scheduled for September 30 and October 1, 2016. More details to come.
