LSU Energy Law Center Named in Honor of John P. Laborde (’49)

The LSU Board of Supervisors has approved naming the new LSU Law Energy Law Center in honor of John P. Laborde, LSU Law Class of 1949.  The newly established academic and research center will be known as the “LSU John P. Laborde Energy Law Center," in recognition of Mr. Laborde’s commitment to the Center and the school.

Preis & Roy, PCL Creates Endowed Professorship of Advocacy and Professional Practice

LSU Law Center Chancellor Jack M. Weiss announced on November 1 the creation of The Preis and Roy Director of Advocacy and Professional Practice Endowed Professorship, an endowment established through a $250,000 gift by the Preis and Roy law firm.

LSU Law Appoints Director of Energy Law Center

Robert D. Sloan has been appointed the first director of the LSU John P. Laborde Energy Law Center and Professor of Professional Practice. The appointment was effective November 1.

“With 40 years of legal experience across the globe, Bob Sloan will bring a broad professional and international perspective to the LSU Laborde Energy Law Center,” Weiss said.

The alumni of the LSU Paul M.
