Second Annual Apprenticeship Week Sets Sail
LSU Law Center Chancellor Jack Weiss welcomed students to the 2nd Annual Apprenticeship Week on Monday, January 5, 2015. The week-long program offers a variety of mini-courses aimed at providing students with focused, task-oriented training not generally available in law school courses and usually available only through actual practice experience. Courses offered include many practical, hands-on topics that are taught by volunteer master lawyers and judges.

Still Time to Register for the 2015 Louisiana Law Review Symposium
The Louisiana Law Review’s 2015 Symposium, The Voting Rights Act at 50: The Past, Present, and Future of the Right to Vote, will be held Friday, January 16, 2015, at the LSU Law Center. The symposium is co-sponsored by the LSU Law Center and the Pugh Institute for Justice. Click here for registration information.

“Sustainable Oil and Gas Development” focus of Liskow & Lewis Visiting Professorship in Energy Law Lecture: January 28
Scott Anderson and Mark Boling will deliver the annual Liskow & Lewis Visiting Professorship in Energy Law Lecture on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Law Center. The lecture, “Sustainable Oil and Gas Development”, will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the David W. Robinson Courtroom. The Liskow & Lewis Visiting Professorship in Energy Law was established through a generous gift from the Liskow & Lewis law firm. The Professorship provides funds to bring distinguished scholars in energy law and closely related fields to the Law Center on an annual basis as part of the LSU John P. Laborde Energy Law Center.

Honorable Carl E. Stewart to Deliver 2015 Rubin Lecture on February 4
The Honorable Carl E. Stewart, Chief Judge of the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, will present the Judge Alvin B. and Janice G. Rubin Visiting Professor of Law Lecture on February 4 at the LSU Law Center. The lecture, “A Dream Realized or a Dream Deferred: 50 Years After the Civil Rights Act of 1964,” will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the McKernan Auditorium.
