Professors Corbett and Roberts honored with 2024 LSU Law Excellence in Legal Scholarship Award

LSU Law Professor Bill Corbett and Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Research Caprice Roberts have each been awarded a 2024 LSU Law Excellence in Legal Scholarship Award. Corbett’s article, “Reasonably Accommodating Employment Discrimination Law” landed him the award, while Roberts was selected for her article, “Reimaging First Amendment Remedies,” which was cowritten by University of Alabama School of Law Professor Ronald Krotoszynski, Jr. Each of the recipients was awarded $3,000 for being named this year’s honorees. Third-year LSU Law students Guice, Mannankara take home Fall 2024 Flory Mock Trial trophy

Third-year LSU Law students Taylor Guice and Rini Mannankara bested classmates Daniel Harry and Grant Murphy to win the Fall 2024 Ira S. Flory Mock Trial Competition, which took place Monday evening, Sept. 23, in the Robinson Courtroom at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. The students presented their cases—Guice and Mannankara on behalf of the defendants, and Harry and Murphy representing the prosecution—before a panel of distinguished judges from the Louisiana 21st Judicial District Court that included Brian K. New academic year brings bevy of new students, faculty, and staff to LSU Law

New faces abounded at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center as the first classes of the new academic year got underway on Monday, Aug. 19. Along with one of the largest classes of first-year law students in recent history—228 students, up from 211 a year ago—the fall semester began with 10 new faculty members and seven new staff members who have started in their roles since the summer. Total enrollment at LSU Law this fall stands at 644 students. There are 198 second-year students at LSU Law this semester, 201 third-years students, and 17 students pursuing their LLM. Among…

LSU Law kicked off its Fall Faculty Speaker Series at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center with Professor Jamila E. Jefferson of the University of Kansas School of Law on August 15 and announced its remaining lineup of guest speakers for the Fall semester. Professor Jefferson, who joined KU Law’s faculty in 2022, presented a cross-cultural training workshop.
