September 26, 2018With an affinity for writing and public speaking, Leah Catherine Voth always aspired to use her skills in her future career path, whatever that would end up being. After earning her undergraduate degree in Mass Communication at LSU, Leah Catherine applied to LSU Law, her first and only choice for an education in law. “No one offers a J.D./D.C.L. program as successful as LSU's,” she said. More than 150 students donate time for PILS Fall Day of Service
September 26, 2018On Aug. 24th, more than 150 law students donated their Saturday morning to give back to the Baton Rouge community during LSU Law's annual Fall Day of Service. The students divided up their service among 11 sites all across Baton Rouge. Jobs jobs included washing the World War II fighter ship USS Kidd, working with animals at the Capital Animal Alliance, helping the Baton Rouge Food Bank, and prepping local schools for the beginning of the start of class. American Constitution Society, PILS hold clothing donation drive
September 20, 2018The LSU Law Chapter of the American Constitution Society, in partnership with Public Interest Law Society, is collecting dress clothes for indigent defendants to wear to their court appearances. The groups started the clothing drive to lessen the bias that potentially arises from appearing in court in a prison uniform. Many indigent defendants either do not have appropriate clothing for court or do not have access to their wardrobe while they are incarcerated, and the Baton Rouge Public Defender's Office attempts to address this issue by keeping a closet of dress clothes for defendants to wear. September 6, 2018The LSU Law Clinic will provide pro bono notarial assistance to all 2Ls who are completing their Bar applications, which are due Oct. 1.
