20 LSU Law students selected for induction into The Order of the Coif
June 29, 2021Twenty students in the LSU Law Class of 2021 have been selected for induction into The Order of the Coif, the highest honor a law student can receive. “The Order of the Coif denotes a very high level of accomplishment during law school, and we at the Law Center take great pride in recognizing the graduates of the Class of 2021 who earned membership this year,” said LSU Law Interim Dean Lee Ann Lockridge. June 24, 2021When Casey Hardaway began her studies at LSU Law, she planned on pursuing a career in the transactional field because it would complement her undergraduate degree in Marketing and Corporate Relations. LSU Law 2020 graduate Chaz Cannova honored with CLEA Outstanding Clinical Student Award
June 23, 2021LSU Law School Class of 2020 graduate Chaz Cannova was named the recipient of the Clinical Legal Education Association Outstanding Student Award for his work in the Civil Mediation Clinic (CMC) during the Fall of 2019. Chaz mediated 3 cases at Baton Rouge City Court with two resolutions, one involving reimbursement for stolen guns and the other a “family” dispute regarding personal loans. He did a fantastic job in his role as Mediator with diverse issues and parties. June 14, 2021LSU Law Class of 2021 graduate Lane Simon was recently named the recipient of the Clinical Legal Education Association Outstanding Field Placement Student Award for his work this year at the Louisiana Department of Justice, working with the appellate attorneys in the Criminal Division of that office. CLEA’s Outstanding Field Placement Student Award recognized the valuable work for justice that law students do through externships and provides law schools the opportunity to nominate an outstanding and self-reflective externship student for CLEA’s recognition. LSU Law 2021 graduate David Guidry honored with CLEA Outstanding Clinical Student Award
June 14, 2021LSU Law Class of 2021 graduate David Guidry was recently named the recipient of the Clinical Legal Education Association Outstanding Student Award for his work in the Juvenile Defense Clinic. Mr. Guidry represented clients in Juvenile Court in East Baton Rouge Parish on five petitions, including delinquent and status offenses. Mr. Guidry impressed us with his trial preparation. He thoroughly and diligently prepared for adjudication with very little prompting and took the lead on developing his case, exemplifying what we hope to see from a first chair student attorney. LSU Law alumna receives Georgia’s highest honor
June 6, 2021Lawyer and entrepreneur Juanita Powell Baranco, an LSU graduate who earned her J.D. from LSU Law in 1977, was inducted by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and the Georgia Historical Society as a Georgia Trustee on Saturday, June 5. Being inducted as a Georgia Trustee is the highest honor conferred by the State of Georgia, and Baranco received it during the first-ever televised broadcast of the Georgia Trustees Gala, which was livestreamed on the Georgia Historical Society YouTube channel. Baranco, who grew up in Shreveport, is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Baranco Automotive Group in Atlanta. She founded…
