Professors Levasseur and Lonegrass recognized during third annual Inventorship Showcase meeting
May 25, 2017Two LSU Law professors were recognized recently for their achievements in technology transfer. The LSU Office of Innovation and Technology Commercialization honored Alain Levasseur and Melissa Lonegrass during the third annual Inventorship Showcase meeting on May 9 at the Lod Cook Alumni Center. Lonegrass was recognized for her work in “Louisiana Civil Code with Official Legislative Commentary,” and Levasseur was recognized for “Deciphering a Civil Code: Sources of Law and Methods of Interpretation.” The Inventorship Showcase event serves as a recognition of innovative LSU faculty, staff and students, patents issued and other achievements in technology transfer at LSU. LSU Law Professor Emerita Lucy McGough Bowers honored by Emory School of Law
May 4, 2017LSU Law Professor Emerita Lucy McGough Bowers was recently named one of the Emory Law 100 by the Emory University School of Law. The Emory Law 100 honors the achievements and impact of 100 of the school’s most distinguished alumni and friends. Bowers — then Lucy Heinreitze — is a 1966 graduate of Emory University School of Law. Bowers was the first tenured woman, first Candler Professor for the law school, and first female Candler Professor at Emory University. She served on the faculty from 1970 to 1983 and is one of Emory Law’s best-known graduates in law teaching. After…

LSU Law Professor Robert Lancaster appointed Chair to the Louisiana Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights
May 1, 2017Professor Robert Lancaster has been appointed as Chair to the Louisiana Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. The State Advisory Committee consists of experts in local and state civil rights issues and assists the Commission with its fact finding, investigation, and information dissemination functions. "The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights congratulates the following individuals on their appointments as members of our state Advisory Committees. The Committees play an important role in civil rights advocacy at state and local levels," the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights said in a press release.
