Ferrell elected Vice President of Member Services and Education for NALP

LSU Law Director of Career Services Gwendolyn Ferrell has been elected to serve as the 2022-24 Vice President of Member Services and Education for the National Association for Law Placement (NALP).  NALP is an association of over 2,500 legal career professionals from both schools and firms who advise law students, lawyers, law offices, and law schools in North American and beyond. In the role, Ferrell will assist the NALP President in conducting the affairs of the association, assume the responsibility to attend all meetings of the Board of Directors, and serve as Chair of the Regional Leadership Council. LSU Law alumna Ernestine Gray becomes first Louisianan to receive the ABA Mark Hardin Award for Child Welfare Legal Scholarship and Systems Change

Born in Denmark, South Carolina in 1946, Gray received her early education in the public schools of Orangeburg, South Carolina. She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Spelman College in 1970 and her juris doctor degree from LSU Law in 1976. LSU Law memorabilia gifted to US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg up for auction

Throughout her distinguished career, the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg amassed an impressive collection of modern art and memorabilia, which included everything from engravings and ceramics by Pablo Picasso to bronze sculptures by Glenna Goodacre. Her collection also included a Tiger figurine that was gifted to her from LSU Law in 1996, when she held the Judge Alvin B. Rubin Visiting Professorship of Law. Accomplished scholar, GW Law Professor Caprice Roberts to join LSU Law faculty as tenured full professor in Fall 2022

Professor Caprice L. Roberts will join the LSU Law faculty in the Fall 2022 semester as a tenured full professor at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she will teach courses in constitutional law, federal courts, remedies, and contracts. Bosch honored with the Kalinka Award for Advocacy Programs Coach of the Year

LSU Law alumnus and Advocacy Fellow Daniel Bosch has been named the 2022 recipient of the Kalinka Award for Advocacy Programs Coach of the Year. Named in honor of the late Professor Susan C. Kalinka, the award recognizes a coach of one of LSU Law’s moot court, trial advocacy, or dispute resolution external competition teams who embodies the inspiration and dedication of Professor Kalinka. During his first official visit to the Paul M. Hebert Law Center on Wednesday, April 6, LSU President William Tate met with LSU Law administrators, faculty members, and students. Tate’s visit included a tour of the Law Center guided by third-year law students Richala Jackson and Neyah Johnson, a one-on-one discussion with LSU Law Interim Dean Lee Ann Wheelis Lockridge, and two group discussions with LSU Law professors and students. As you prepare for exams, be sure to look at the West Study Aids, CALI Lessons and past exams.  The West Study Aids provide access to hundreds of study aids, treatises and audio lectures.  This database also provides access multiple choice practice questions to help you prepare for exam questions. CALI, the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction, has over 1,000 interactive tutorials that cover various topics of law. Email Reference today for the authorization code to access CALI Lessons. Some professors have released old final exams.  These may be accessed on the restricted drive in the folder titled “Past Exams.”

Extended Library Hours

Beginning Monday, April 11 through Thursday, May 5, the Law Library will be open until midnight each night for the exam period. 2022 Giving Day marks successful launch of Dean’s Council membership drive
