CNN Commentator and Author Jeffrey Toobin to Speak at LSU Law Center
April 24, 2008Jeffrey Toobin, CNN legal analyst and author, will discuss the inner workings of the U.S. Supreme Court and the impact a new presidency will have on its future on Friday, May 2 from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. The event will be held in the Student Lounge and is open to the entire LSU community and the public. The conversation with Toobin will be moderated by Law Chancellor Jack Weiss. LSU Law Wins National and International Honors at Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Competitions
April 4, 2008LSU Law students traveled around the world this Spring semester representing the Law Center at Moot Court, Trial Advocacy, and Arbitration Competitions in cities such as New York, Houston, and Vienna, Austria. In all, students participated in 15 competitions receiving honors and recognition in virtually all of them. Most notably, students won two National Championships in Moot Court Appellate Competitions. Students Erin Bray, David Conachen, and Adam Savoie won First Place at the National Tax Moot Court Competition. LSU Law Center Public Forum to Address Pending Supreme Court Case
April 1, 2008The LSU Law Center's Public Interest Law Society (PILS) and the Jean and George Pugh Institute for Justice will host a public forum on Wednesday, April 2 to discuss Louisiana v Kennedy, a Supreme Court case scheduled for hearing the week of April 14, 2008. The case relates to whether capital punishment can be imposed for rape of a child. The forum will be conducted by Jelpi Picou, Director of the Capital Appeals Project, and LSU Law Professor Paul Baier.
