LSU Law honors scholarship benefactors and recipients at annual Scholarship Reception, announces five new scholarships
March 29, 2023In fiscal year 2022, five new scholarships were created, including the: Gene Fendler Memorial Scholarship (endowed) Pugh Accardo Scholarship (non-endowed) Theresa M. Gallion Scholarship (non-endowed) Arnold & Itkin Trial Lawyers Advocacy Scholarship (non-endowed) William Craig Henry Class of 1973 Scholarship (currently non-endowed, but it is anticipated that this scholarship will be endowed in the future) The Vinson & Elkins law firm also renewed an agreement to continue funding its $10,000 annual award for another 10 years. Each year, LSU Law submits applications to the Louisiana Board of Regents for endowed scholarship matching funds through the Endowed Superior Graduate Student Scholarship…

March 28, 2023Forty-six students in the LSU Law Class of 2024 have been selected for membership on the 2023-2024 Board of Advocates, a student honor organization dedicated to the promotion and development of oral and written persuasive advocacy skills. Rising third-year law students are selected to membership on the Board of Advocates based on a holistic application that looks at a student’s success in the Law Center’s many different internal and external advocacy competitions, teams, and other skills development opportunities. US Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals to hold hearings at LSU Law on Wednesday, March 22
March 17, 2023LSU Law students will have the unique opportunity to observe a hearing of the U.S. Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals on Wednesday, March 22, when the court visits the Paul M. Hebert Law Center as part of its public outreach program. Six LSU Law students were selected to submit amicus briefs in advance of the hearing, and two of them—3Ls Chad Thornton and Hannah Turner—will argue their briefs before the court. Procopio and Flores win the 2023 LSU Law Transactional Negotiation Competition
March 14, 2023LSU Law students Sarah Procopio and Yenifer Flores won the 2023 LSU Law Transactional Negotiation Competition on Monday, March 13, during the final round of competition in the David Robinson Courtroom at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center. The Transactional Competition is an internal competition at LSU Law that is designed to develop students’ skills in dispute resolution, transactions, and negotiation. In each round, teams receive a common set of facts known by all participants and confidential information known only to the participants representing a particular side. March 8, 2023Over the past two decades, Charlton Meginley’s assignments in the United States Air Force JAG Corps have moved him across the country and around the world on 10 different occasions, with stops in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, California, Illinois, Texas, Washington, Maryland, Germany, and Iraq. March 1, 2023Third-year LSU Law student Hannah Cottrell has been named a finalist for the 2023 President Management Fellows Program, a prestigious and highly competitive two-year fellowship administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. “I was very excited and a little surprised when I was notified about it, because it’s such a competitive program,” said Cottrell, a West Monroe native who earned her undergraduate degree at LSU.
