LSU Law Center mourns the passing of Judge James Brady
December 11, 2017The LSU Law Center mourns the passing of Federal Senior Judge James “Jim” Brady, who died Saturday evening after a brief illness. Brady, United States District Judge for the Middle District of Louisiana, was a 1969 graduate of LSU Law, an adjunct professor at the school, 2014 Distinguished Achievement Honoree, a member of the Pugh Institute of Justice advisory committee, and a longtime supporter and volunteer of the LSU Law trial advocacy program. “The LSU Law Center community is saddened by the news of Judge Brady’s passing,” LSU Law Dean Tom Galligan said. “Judge Brady was incredibly supportive of the…

Exam schedule update for Dec. 8
December 7, 2017The LSU campus, including the LSU Law Center, will open on Friday, December 8 at 10 am because of anticipated inclement weather. All exams that were scheduled for Friday, December 8 at 8:30 am will now begin at 10:30 am. Exams scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm Friday will proceed as planned. Of course, if weather conditions change and the schedule needs to be adjusted, we will update you as soon as possible. We thank all of you for being flexible with conditions out of our control. LSU Successions/Title Clearing clinic secures approximately $250,000 in Fall 2017 semester
December 4, 2017The LSU Successions/Title Clearing clinic operates in collaboration with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) to provide free legal services to indigent clients. Third-year law students, under the supervision of Professor Carter and Julia Wilson at SLLS, gain valuable experience in successions and estate planning work while helping actual clients clear title to their homes and plan for the orderly administration of their own estates in the future. This fall, 3L students Torrie Lawson, Bryce Robinson, and Ryan Williams worked to secure approximately $250,000 in economic benefit for their clients—all of whom were affected by the August 2016 flooding.
