LSU Law Center Honors 2015 Distinguished Alumnus and Achievement Honorees at Awards Luncheon; Honorable James L. Dennis Receives Honorary Degree

The LSU Law Center honored Edward J. Walters, Jr. as the 2015 LSU Law Center Distinguished Alumnus of the Year and Jeffrey K. Coreil, Jennifer A. Jones, Edwin G. Preis, Jr., Kimberly L. Robinson and Dean A. Sutherland for Distinguished Achievement at an awards luncheon held Sunday, October 11 at the Lod Cook Conference Center in Baton Rouge. Also recognized at the luncheon was the Honorable James L. Dennis, Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals, who received the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws in recognition of his substantial contributions to the development of the law, to the judiciary and to our State, region and nation.

Andrew Hairston (’16) Named Lindsay Civil Rights Fellow

Andrew Hairston (‘16), a third-year student at the LSU Law Center, has been named the recipient of the prestigious George N. Lindsay Civil Rights Fellowship at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Only one Lindsay Fellow is named each year. He is scheduled to begin the fellowship in September 2016.

LSU Law Students Achieve State’s Highest Passage Rate on July 2015 Bar Exam

LSU Law Center students achieved the state’s highest passage rate among all examinees on the latest Louisiana State Bar Exam, according to results released October 9 by the Committee on Bar Admissions of the Supreme Court of Louisiana. The results are for test takers who sat for the statewide bar examination in July 2015.

The LSU Law Center has been ranked the #8 Best Value Law School in the nation in the 2015 rankings released by The National Jurist magazine. LSU Law is the only Louisiana law school, public or private, included in the rankings.

Professor Andrea Carroll Appointed Interim Associate Dean for Student and Academic Affairs

Interim Co-Deans Bill Corbett and Cheney Joseph are pleased to announce that Professor Andrea Carroll has accepted an appointment to serve as Interim Associate Dean for Student and Academic Affairs, effective Oct. 1. As Interim Associate Dean, Professor Carroll will oversee the Law Center's academic program.
