Your Gifts at Work: Marisa Del Turco

Marisa Del TurcoAs third-year student Marisa Del Turco is diligently working to complete her last semester of studies at LSU Law, she is on the cusp of achieving a goal she set many years ago.

“From a young age, I had the goal of becoming an attorney. Accordingly, I got my first job when I was 15 and my first legal internship when I was a senior in high school,” said Del Turco, who great up in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, just outside Denver. “My background also includes a variety of other jobs and internships in the legal profession, including a judicial externship and firm experience.”

A first-generation college student who earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, Del Turco is passionate about traveling and immersing herself in diverse experiences and cultures. That, along with some close family ties in Louisiana, led her to choose LSU Law.

“I have grown up visiting and appreciating the culture, which is why LSU Law was my top choice,” she said.

Del Turco has thrived at LSU Law. She has been a Dean’s Scholar for four consecutive semesters and has been awarded numerous scholarships for her academic achievement. She has served as an academic tutor for first-year law students as well as Senior Articles Editor for Volume X of the LSU Journal of Energy Law and Resources and is a candidate for the Graduate Certificate in Energy Law and Policy. She was also finalist in the Institute for Energy Law’s 2021 Hartrick Scholar Writing Competition.

“After graduation, I will take the Louisiana Bar Exam and move to New Orleans to be an associate at Jones Walker in their Litigation Practice Group,” Del Turco said.

As she prepares for the next step in her blossoming legal career and sets new goals, Del Turco said she could not have made it this far in her journey without the generous support of LSU Law alumni who have made her scholarships possible.

“I was extremely appreciative and emotional to learn that I was selected as an LSU Law Scholarship recipient,” said Del Turco. “I have endured many financial hardships in my educational pursuits, and this support is helping to make my dream a reality. The alumni generosity has changed my life, and I cannot thank you enough.”
