On Thursday, March 20, a panel of the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal will hold oral arguments in the David Robinson Courtroom beginning at 10 a.m. The judges on the panel are the Honorable Randolph Parro, the Honorable James E. Kuhn, and the Honorable Robert D. Downing.
On Tuesday, March 25, a second panel of the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal will hold oral arguments in the David Robinson Courtroom, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The judges on this panel are the Honorable Edward J. “Jimmy” Gaidry, the Honorable J. Michael McDonald, and the Honorable Page McClendon.
1L law students will be attending the oral arguments with their legal writing sections. Upperclassmen are also invited to attend the arguments as their schedules permit. The length of court will vary on the two days based on the length of the docket and the number of cases to be argued orally.
The following are NOT allowed in the courtroom: cell phones, food, drink, backpacks and weapons. Laptops are allowed but they will have to be powered up in front of security before entry into the courtroom. Purses are allowed, but they will be searched before entry into the courtroom. Thus, students are advised to store their books and personal belongings in their lockers if they have one. Students should dress respectfully, although they do not need to be in professional attire.
Finally, as in the past, a portion of the student parking lot will be reserved for the judges, court staff and the visiting attorneys. Students should make plans to arrive earlier than usual to allow time to get to class from the overflow parking lots.
