The LSU Law Center ranks 11th in the nation in the percentage of 2011 graduates employed in full-time, long-term legal jobs within 9 months of graduation, according to an analysis published on June 25 by the Wall Street Journal. Some 81.25% of the graduates of the LSU Law Class of 2011 were employed in a full-time, long-term job requiring a legal degree. The Wall Street Journal released its analysis of publicly reported law school data following a year of scrutiny by the American Bar Association. The Journal’s analysis of the ABA data places the LSU Law Center among an elite peer group reporting strong full-time, long-term employment of their graduates, including the University of Virginia, Columbia, Stanford, New York, Harvard, Chicago, Yale, Pennsylvania, Duke and George Washington law schools.
Although the Wall Street Journal article highlighted low full-time legal employment rates for some law schools and did not specifically mention LSU Law’s positive results, an accompanying chart confirmed LSU Law’s own ABA data showing a strong rate of fulltime, long-term legal employment.
