2023 Order of the Barristers: Angelle Boudreaux

Please tell us about the organizations and activities you participated in at LSU Law, including any awards or honors you received.

During my time at LSU Law, I participated in external mock trial competitions and was placed on two teams, each of which placed in national competitions. I also participated in internal competitions, and was one of the winners of the Fall 2022 Flory Mock Trial Competition. During Trial Advocacy in the summer of 2022, I was selected for nomination to the Wex Malone American Inns of Court.

In spring 2023, I was chosen to participate in filing an amicus briefing for a case before the United States Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals. I was also a member of the Women’s Law Students Association. I graduated cum laude with a JD/DCL.

Please tell us about any LSU Law faculty, classes, or other experiences that were particularly impactful on your legal education.

I will always credit the field placements arranged for me by Professor Jeff Brooks to be among the most impactful experiences that I have had at LSU Law. My externships at the Western District Court were invaluable opportunities to gain an insider perspective of justice in the federal system and inspired me to pursue federal criminal defense work.

What are your fondest memories from your time at LSU Law?

Many of my fondest memories at LSU Law involve the many opportunities to participate in advocacy. I relished every chance to give arguments before real judges, get feedback from practicing attorneys, and compete against other students. Participating in advocacy led to opportunities to travel, strengthen the foundation of my legal education, and to have a lot of fun.

What advice would you give to students entering law school who aspire to become an Order of the Barristers member when they graduate?

You will have to push past your own discomfort and self-doubts at times, but if you give it your all, you will discover that you are capable of much more than you know.
