With 86.8% of its graduates passing the Louisiana Bar Exam, LSU Law had the highest pass rate among all Louisiana law schools on the July 2025 exam, according to the newly released results from the Committee on Bar Admission of the Louisiana Supreme Court. Among first-time takers, 89% of LSU Law graduates passed, which also ranks first among Louisiana law schools.
LSU Law graduates’ pass rates were well above the statewide averages for the July exam. The LSU Law pass rate for all takers was approximately 12 points higher than the state average of 74.6%, while its pass rate among first-time takers was nearly seven points higher than the 82.2% state average.
“We are extremely proud of our graduates who were successful on the Louisiana Bar Exam in July, and we wish them the very best as they now launch their careers,” said LSU Law Interim Dean Caprice Roberts. “We will carefully examine the results as we continually work to enhance our bar passage outcomes and prepare all of our graduates to achieve success and fulfill their career goals.”
Louisiana Bar Exam passage is required before an individual may be licensed to practice law in Louisiana, with limited exceptions for some in-house counsel. Statewide results include the share of exam takers passing the bar who graduated from the state’s public and private law schools, as well as the percentage who passed and graduated from out-of-state law schools.
