Energy Law and Academic Coordinator Norma Marsh was presented with a crystal award from Dean Alena Allen during commencement exercises for the Class of 2025 on Friday, May 16. Marsh was selected as staff member of the year by the graduating class.
Shortly after Norma Marsh was promoted to energy law and academic coordinator in November 2024, she also stepped up to take on planning and logistics for all Law Center events during the first quarter of 2025 while one of her colleagues was on maternity leave.
“I encounter so many students who are navigating the tough challenges of law school with grace, while still volunteering, and doing everything they can to have a positive impact on our community,” said Marsh, who joined the LSU Law staff as an academic coordinator in 2023. “It’s my pleasure to help them in their journey in any small way I can.”
On a day-to-day basis, Marsh provides administrative support to faculty and coordinates activities on behalf of the LSU John P. Laborde Energy Law Center. Prior to joining the LSU Law staff, Marsh was a teacher for nearly 20 years in Baton Rouge, including 15 years at Runnels School in Baton Rouge as well as time at St. Michael the Archangel High School and Woodlawn High School.
“As a former educator, I’ve been tremendously impressed by the cordiality and professionalism of our student body. It has been my great privilege to work with the LSU Law faculty, staff, and students,” she said. “I’m truly humbled by this recognition, and I hope I can continue to live up to this honor.”
