Dhungel, Guice win Spring 2025 Ira S. Flory Mock Trial Competition

Third-year LSU Law students Sukie Dhungel and Taylor Guice won the Spring 2025 Ira S. Flory Mock Trial Competition on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center’s Robinson Courtroom.

Dhungel and Guice competed against 2Ls Maggie Eubanks and Owen Reppond in the final round of the tournament. Students presented opening statements, examined witnesses, introduced and used pieces of evidence, and presented closing arguments.

The distinguished panel of judges presiding over the final round of competition included U.S. Magistrate Judge Richard L. Bourgeois, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, U.S. Magistrate Judge Erin Wilder-Doomes (’98), U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, and Judge D. Carson Marcantel (’90).

Named in honor of the late LSU Law professor, the Ira S. Flory Mock Trial Competition is a mock trial competition open to all second-and third-year law students. A Flory Trial is held each semester, with the fall Flory trial traditionally being a criminal case and the spring Flory trial being a civil case.
