2023 Order of the Coif: Trent S. Tucker

What are your immediate career plans?

I will begin my career as a corporate associate in the Dallas office of Kirkland & Ellis.

What are your long-term career aspirations?

My long-term career goals are to find work that I enjoy and to retire early.

Please tell us about the organizations and activities you participated in at LSU Law, including any awards or honors you received.

I was a member of The Journal of Energy Law and Resources and The Board of Advocates and served as an academic tutor as well as a research assistant. I graduated Summa Cum Laude, was named a Paul M. Hebert Scholar in every semester, and earned CALI awards in Torts, Civ Pro, Obligations, Evidence, Security Devices, Mat Regimes, Climate, and Trusts & Estates.

Please tell us about any LSU Law faculty, classes, or other experiences that were particularly impactful on your legal education.

I have nothing but good memories of the faculty and staff at the Law Center and enjoyed every professor I had the privilege of taking a course with. One that sticks out was Torts with Professor Bill Corbett, an 8 a.m. class that I surprisingly had no trouble staying awake in, mainly because of the enthusiasm and expertise that Professor Corbett brought to every single class.

What are your fondest memories from your time at LSU Law?

The decision to attend law school was one of the best I have made in my life, while academic success and securing a great job definitely contribute to my fond recollection of the past three years, the reason why my experience was as good as it was is because of the people I met and the countless great times we had together that I will remember forever. I’m really going to miss the gifs.

What advice would you give to students entering law school who aspire to become an Order of the Coif member when they graduate?

Only learn what you need to know, work harder than the people around you, find good outlines, and never skip social events.
