With 81.6% of its graduates passing the Louisiana Bar Exam, LSU Law had the highest pass rate of all Louisiana law schools on the July 2022 exam, according to the newly released results from the Committee on Bar Admission of the Louisiana Supreme Court.
Among first-time takers of the exam in July, 84.7% of LSU Law graduates passed, which also ranks first among Louisiana law schools. In a typical year, approximately 70% of spring LSU Law graduates elect to sit for the Louisiana Bar Exam as their first bar examination.
“Everyone at LSU Law is extremely proud of our graduates who were successful on this sitting of the bar exam, particularly after the unusual circumstances presented by the pandemic to our recent graduates throughout their law school experience,” said LSU Law Interim Dean Lee Ann Wheelis Lockridge. “As always, we will analyze the results to see how we can work even harder going forward to help all our graduates achieve even greater success on the Louisiana and other state bar exams.”
LSU Law graduates’ July 2022 pass rates were well above the statewide averages for all takers and for first-time exam takers, which were 69.8% and 75.6%, respectively. Statewide results include the share of exam takers passing the bar who graduated from the state’s public and private law schools, as well as the percentage who passed and graduated from out-of-state law schools.
Louisiana Bar Exam passage is required before an individual may be licensed to practice law in Louisiana, with limited exceptions for some in-house counsel.
