Leah Catherine Voth

A female student smiles with a courtroom and the LSU Law Center seal in the backgroundWith an affinity for writing and public speaking, Leah Catherine Voth always aspired to use her skills in her future career path, whatever that would end up being.

After earning her undergraduate degree in Mass Communication at LSU, Leah Catherine applied to LSU Law, her first and only choice for an education in law.

“No one offers a J.D./D.C.L. program as successful as LSU’s,” she said.

Now in her third year at LSU Law, Leah Catherine has found herself in an enviable position. She has gained experience through her clerkships and externships, and was given the opportunity to serve as Associate Dean Andrea Carroll’s research assistant.

To add, Leah Catherine has worked her way from Article Manager to Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Energy Law and Resources and was awarded Best Comment for one of her articles. Titled, “Why So Salty? A Comment Addressing Louisiana’s Attitude toward Saltwater Pollution”, the piece is set to publish in Spring 2019.

Leah Catherine has also made her mark at LSU Law as a finalist in the Spring 2018 Ira S. Flory Mock Trial Competition, quarterfinalist in the Fall 2017 Robert Lee Tullis Moot Court Competition, a member of the Moot Court Board and Board of Advocates, a CALI Award winner for Legal Research and Writing, and a Dean’s Scholar.

For her efforts, Leah Catherine has been honored as a Chancellor’s Merit Scholar, a title that rewards students for their hard work.

“The scholarship affords me the invaluable opportunity of enjoying my law school education without impending student debt,” she said.

With such formidable accomplishments under her belt already, Leah Catherine’s future is bright. Though wherever she ends up post-graduation, she plans to put her writing skills to work.
