Stutes-Kalinka Tax Moot Court Team Named National Semifinalists

Two men and two women wearing business attire pose for photo with green leaves in the backgroundCongratulations to the Law Center’s National Tax Moot Court Competition Stutes-Kalinka Tax Team of Lauren Duncan, James Holzer, and Danielle Sczesny, who finished this past weekend’s national tax moot as one of the top four teams in the country! The Stutes-Kalinka Tax Team is supported in part by the generous gift of alumnus Rusty Stutes (’91), who endowed the team in memory of the late Professor Susan Kalinka.

The National Tax Moot Court Competition, sponsored by the Florida Bar Association’s Tax Section, was held Feb. 18-21, 2016 at the Tradewinds Resort in St. Pete Beach, FL.  The Tax Moot brings in leading tax practitioners and judges from the United States Tax Court as the competition’s judges, and asks students to argue cutting-edge issues of taxation law.

The Law Center’s Stutes-Kalinka Tax Team is coached by Prof. Philip Hackney (’01) and Prof. Elizabeth Carter.
