Application and Selection Process
Graduates are required to complete an application and submit a copy of the most recent Federal Income Tax Return (or joint return, if married) with social security numbers redacted. (Social security numbers will be required of awardees for grant disbursement.) Applicants are also required to have their qualifying employer submit the enclosed Employer Certification Form indicating their position start date and gross starting salary. Documentation of the applicant’s educational loan(s) and any other requested information must also be provided to assist the Selection Committee in determining an applicant’s eligibility. A personal statement allows applicants to address their commitment to public service and any extenuating circumstances contributing to a compelling application. A current resume is also required. The Selection Committee, consisting of faculty, staff, and possibly alumni appointed by the LSU Law Center Dean, will review applications to determine eligibility of the applicants. The Selection Committee will recommend the most compelling candidates for the LRAP award to the Dean. The number and value of the awards made are contingent on the applicant pool and funding.
