U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas Visits LSU Law Center
The LSU Law Center welcomed U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Michelle Shamblin Stratton, the Law Center’s first-ever U.S. Supreme Court Clerk, to the campus on September 6 and 7 for two busy days of educational events.
The agenda for the Justice and Ms. Shamblin included student forums, classroom teaching, and meetings with students, leaders of student organizations, and the faculty.

LSU Law Receives Formal Approval for Energy Law Center
The Louisiana Board of Regents granted formal approval of LSU Law’s Energy Law Center, the first such center in Louisiana and one of a handful operating in law schools nationwide, at their August meeting. The Center will prepare lawyers for the full range of 21st century practice in the complex world of energy law.
“Only a short time ago, the Energy Law Center was only a dream,” said LSU Law Center Chancellor Jack M. Weiss. “Now that dream has become a reality.”

LSU Law Center Ranked #3 Best Value Law School in the Nation
The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center has been ranked the #3 Best Value Law School in the nation by the National Jurist, a legal education publication. The 2012 rankings move the Law Center up three spots from last year’s Best Value rank of #6.

LSU Law Class of 2015 Arrives on Campus
A new chapter began for the approximately 200 students that make up the LSU Law Class of 2015 as they arrived on the Law Center’s campus August 9 to begin a two-day orientation. The orientation program introduces the students to the inner-workings of the professional law school environment.
The class boasts strong ties to Louisiana, while also representing a geographically diverse group of students. The students represent some 69 colleges and universities, and 20 states.

Law Students ‘Learn By Doing’ at Annual Trial Advocacy Program
LSU Law students had the opportunity to practice their trial advocacy skills during a unique program involving mentors throughout the nation. From cross-examination to voir dire jury selection, law students role played and received critiques from some of the nation’s leading experts in courtroom practices. The annual Trial Advocacy program was held August 6-8, at the LSU Law Center.

2012 Les Avocats Reunion
LSU Law graduates of “51 Years or Better” gathered for the annual Les Avocats reunion on August 15 at the Faculty Club. The Class of 1961 is the newest class to be added to this distinguished group of alumni. The attendees enjoyed seeing old classmates and reminiscing about their law school days.
