Statement of Interest – This personal statement of no more than three pages should indicate, in detail, the nature of the unpaid (and uncredited) legal work you will be doing over the summer. Please use this as your opportunity to explain to the PILS Fellowship committee why you believe your work aligns with the PILS Fellowship program. Remember, PILS' mission is to foster help in all demographic sectors of Louisiana (and beyond), with a particular focus on the low-income and marginalized. Please refer to the FAQ for further guidance.

Resume – A resume including previous work experience, volunteer and pro bono activities. Law school rank and cumulative G.P.A. are not required.

D. Acceptance of Program Rules if Selected

By my signature below, I certify that the information included in this application is true and correct and that I have completed this application to the best of my abilities. Further, by signature below, I agree to and understand the following:

• If I am selected and awarded a PILS Summer Fellowship, I understand and agree that I have made a personal and professional commitment to adhere to the work by which the PILS Summer Fellowship has been awarded in order to support.
• If I must withdraw from the work that the PILS Summer Fellowship supports, I will notify the PILS Board of Directors immediately.
• I understand that I will be issued a 1099 at the end of the year and that the stipend I earn is considered taxable income. I am responsible for ascertaining and paying my own tax liability.
